DJI Lito Series: Beginner-Friendly 4K Camera Drones Under 250g
The DJI Lito series brings omnidirectional obstacle sensing, 4K/60fps video, and over 30 minutes of flight time to an entry-level, sub-250g airframe. Two models make up the range: the Lito 1 with a 1/2-inch sensor, and the premium Lito X1 with a larger 1/1.3-inch sensor, forward-facing LiDAR, and 42GB of internal storage.
Both weigh under 250g, placing them in the A1 category, which allows flight closer to people than heavier drones, and both start below £370, making them the most affordable route into capable aerial photography DJI currently offers. As camera drones over 100g, both require registration before outdoor flight
Lito 1 or Lito X1: Which to Choose
| Model | Sensor | Storage | Standout Feature | From |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lito 1 | 1/2-inch | microSD only | Lowest entry price | £299.00 |
| Lito X1 | 1/1.3-inch | 42GB internal + microSD | Larger sensor, forward LiDAR, D-Log M | £369.00 |
The £70 difference buys a larger sensor, forward-facing LiDAR for more precise tracking, 42GB of onboard storage, and 10-bit D-Log M colour for greater editing latitude. Call 01243 859444 if you want help deciding which suits your use.
Shared Capabilities Across Both Models
Every feature below carries a direct practical benefit for a new pilot:
- Capture 4K/60fps video and 48MP stills in JPEG or RAW, delivering editable, high-resolution footage from the first flight
- Fly up to 36 minutes per Intelligent Flight Battery, covering a genuine session rather than a brief flight
- Detect obstacles with 5-lux omnidirectional sensing, reducing crash risk in exactly the conditions where beginners are most exposed
- Track subjects using ActiveTrack at speeds up to 12 m/s, holding a moving subject in frame without manual piloting
- Automate complex shots with QuickShots, MasterShots, Hyperlapse, and Panorama modes, producing polished results without flight skill
- Resist wind up to 10.7 m/s, maintaining a stable hover in the breezy coastal and open conditions common across the UK
- Transfer files at up to 50 MB/s over Wi-Fi 6 with QuickTransfer, moving footage to a phone without a cable
The Lito X1: What the Extra £70 Adds
The Lito X1 upgrades the sensor to a 1/1.3-inch CMOS with an f/1.7 aperture, capturing more light for sharper detail and cleaner low-light footage than the standard Lito 1.
Forward-facing LiDAR adds tracking precision uncommon at this price, improving how reliably the aircraft holds a subject in complex surroundings. 42GB of internal storage means footage is captured even without a memory card fitted, and 10-bit D-Log M recording gives more room to grade colour and exposure in post-production.
Choosing Your Package
Each model is offered as a standard aircraft or a Fly More Combo, with the combo adding extra batteries and a charging cradle:
- Lito 1 standard, aircraft with the RC-N3 controller, from £299.00
- Lito 1 Fly More Combo, adds extra batteries and a charging cradle with the RC-N3 controller, from £429.00
- Lito X1 standard, aircraft with the RC-N3 controller, from £369.00
- Lito X1 Fly More Combo, adds extra batteries and the RC 2 controller with built-in screen, from £599.00
The RC-N3 controller uses a connected phone as the screen. The RC 2, included with the Lito X1 Fly More Combo, has its own built-in screen, removing any dependence on a phone. For a first drone, the Fly More Combo is the stronger buy, since the additional batteries convert a single short outing into a full session.

UK Flight Requirements
From 1 January 2026, UK rules require both a Flyer ID and an Operator ID to fly any drone weighing 100g or more that has a camera. Both Lito models fall into this category, so you will need both before flying outdoors. The Flyer ID is free, earned by passing the CAA's online theory test and valid for five years; the Operator ID is a low-cost annual registration.
The sub-250g weight still carries an advantage: it places both models in the A1 category, permitting flight closer to people than heavier drones allow, which is a large part of why this weight class suits beginners and travellers. Confirm current requirements against the CAA's Drone and Model Aircraft Registration and Education Service before flying, as rules continue to change.
A Note on Weather Resistance
Neither Lito model is waterproof. If caught in rain, land promptly and ensure the aircraft is fully dry before the next flight. This is standard for drones in this class and worth noting for buyers new to flying.
How the Lito Series Compares
The Lito series effectively replaces the older Mini entry-level models as DJI's beginner range. Against the Mini 4K, the Lito adds omnidirectional obstacle sensing and ActiveTrack, safety and tracking features not previously found at this price.
Buyers wanting a larger 1-inch sensor, longer range, and more advanced camera modes should look to the DJI Mini 5 Pro, which sits above the Lito series as the flagship sub-250g model. The Lito range targets first-time pilots and budget-conscious creators; the Mini 5 Pro targets those who want flagship image quality in the same weight class.

Protect Your Lito With Drone Safe Repair Refresh
Repair Refresh is our in-house protection plan, an alternative to DJI Care Refresh handled directly by our own team in Chichester. A manufacturer's warranty covers faults; it does not cover the crashes, water damage, and flyaways that account for most real-world drone damage. Repair Refresh closes that gap, without sending your Lito away to DJI.
- Covers accidental damage that a standard warranty does not
- Handled directly by our own engineers in Chichester, not routed through the manufacturer
- Available on the Lito and across the DJI range at the point of purchase
- Speak to our team to compare Repair Refresh against DJI Care Refresh and find the right cover for you

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the Lito 1 and Lito X1?
The Lito X1 has a larger 1/1.3-inch sensor, forward-facing LiDAR for more precise tracking, 42GB of internal storage, and 10-bit D-Log M colour. The Lito 1 uses a smaller 1/2-inch sensor and relies on a microSD card for storage. Both share the same obstacle sensing, ActiveTrack, and sub-250g weight.
Do I need a licence to fly the DJI Lito?
Yes. Since 1 January 2026, any camera drone weighing 100g or more requires both a Flyer ID and an Operator ID. Both Lito models need both before you fly outdoors. The Flyer ID is free via the CAA's online test; the Operator ID is a low-cost annual registration. Their sub-250g weight still allows flight closer to people under the A1 category.
Is the Lito series good for beginners?
Yes. Omnidirectional obstacle sensing, ActiveTrack, and automated shot modes make both models straightforward to fly and hard to crash, which is exactly why DJI positioned the range for first-time pilots.
How long does the Lito fly on one battery?
Up to 36 minutes per Intelligent Flight Battery under DJI's test conditions. Real-world UK flying with wind reduces this, which is why the Fly More Combos are the more practical choice.
Is the Fly More Combo worth it?
For a first drone, yes. The additional batteries extend a single outing from one short flight to a full session, and the Lito X1 combo also upgrades you to the RC 2 controller with its built-in screen.
Is the DJI Lito waterproof?
No. Neither model is waterproof. Land promptly if caught in rain and ensure the aircraft is fully dry before the next flight.
Does it come with a warranty?
Yes. All new, sealed DJI products from Drone Safe Store carry a 24-month warranty. For accidental damage cover, add DJI Care Refresh or our own Drone Safe Repair Refresh, handled directly by our Chichester team.
